A Busy Start to this Holiday Season at Leeds Bradford Airport

More than 51,000 passengers travel through Leeds Bradford Airport over the average weekend, marking the start of a very busy season at the transport hub.

As schools across Yorkshire finished for the Christmas, many people departed through the airport; similarly, passengers also flew back into the region after enjoying an early summer getaway.

This resulted in another record breaking week – with more than 113,000 people travelling through over seven days.

David Laws, CEO at Leeds Bradford Airport, said:

“Our teams are fully prepared and looking forward to a busy summer ahead; their job is to start and end every passenger’s journey in a fantastic way and we are certainly focused on doing this. Having undergone various terminal upgrades over the winter period and with more planned for the future, it’s great to see that people are increasingly choosing Leeds Bradford Airport to for their travels.

“My focus on the passenger journey means that passengers will start to see further improvements to the service we offer. This, combined with our determination to offer yet more routes, will see us continue to thrive – we aim to be the number one airport of choice for people across Yorkshire. In the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone a great summer.”

Working with 16 major airline and tour operator partners, Leeds Bradford Airport has more than 70 direct destinations across 26 countries, as well as hundreds more through the hubs of Heathrow T5, Amsterdam and Dublin.

This summer has seen Thomas Cook return to Leeds Bradford Airport and the addition of Halkidiki, Almeria and Girona to the Jet2.com programme and Vilnius, Warsaw and Bratislava to Ryanair’s Leeds Bradford Airport programme. In October 2017, Flybe will begin operating its Dusseldorf route and the addition of a special departure to Iceland in February 2018 means that there is yet more choice from Leeds Bradford Airport.
