Steeton won the toss and chose to field first after overnight rain, Steeton’s opening bowlers both took 3 wickets: Joe Stead took 3 wickets for 26 runs from 7 overs; and skipper Paul Hardwick took 3 wickets for 34 runs from 13 overs.
Promoted 2nd XI skipper Gary Boulton (1-10) collected a single wicket & Stephen Pearson (2-49) took couple of wickets, including a catch from his own bowling. David Robinson was awarded a fielding point. On a difficult track Tong Park had registered 159 runs all out in 47.4 overs.
In reply Chris Luxton (12) of the top 3 batsmen managed double figures. David Robinson top-scored with 44 runs scored from 84 deliveries with 1 six & 3 fours. David had good support from Craig Walton, who scored 39 runs from 54 deliveries with 1 six & 3 fours.
Steeton’s tail-end did not ‘wag’ and only Stephen Pearson (10) could manage double figures. Steeton were all out for 134 runs in 45.4 overs, and the season-long aversion to winning away from home continues. Steeton (6 points) lost to Tong Park Esholt (17 points) by 25 runs.
David Robinson is my Man-of-the-Match for Steeton.
